Her performance not only elevated Ghana’s profile on the global stage but also inspired young women across Africa and the diaspora to dream bigger and pursue their goals fearlessly.

OUMIE GARBA FOX: LEGACY IN MOTION
From the Crown to the Calling Long before founding the Miss Africa America Pageant Organization, Oumie stood on the pageant stage herself as Miss Gambia USA. That experience became the seed that would later grow into something far greater than a title. While the crown brought visibility, it also revealed gaps young women needed more than competition. They needed mentorship. Identity. Faith. Direction. Purpose. “I knew firsthand what it felt like to wear a crown,” Oumie reflects, “but I also understood the responsibility to make room for African woman like myself in an industry that does not always embrace African beauty.”

Few success stories embody the mission of Miss Africa America more powerfully than that of former Queen Nancy Apoko. Since wearing the crown, Nancy has continued to demonstrate that true leadership extends far beyond the stage. Through her unwavering commitment to service, community empowerment, and humanitarian outreach, she has become a shining example of what it means to use influence for impact. As the founder of the Nancy Apoko Foundation in Uganda, Nancy has dedicated herself to addressing critical community challenges, particularly those affecting women, mothers, youth, and vulnerable families. Her foundation has focused on improving community well-being through health awareness initiatives, empowerment programs, skills development opportunities, and outreach efforts that bring hope and practical support to those in need. The organization has also championed initiatives designed to reduce maternal health challenges and create opportunities for women and young people to build brighter futures.

Representing Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) on one of the world’s most prestigious stages, Olivia carried far more than a sash and a crown. She carried the dreams of young African girls watching from villages, cities, classrooms, and communities around the globe—girls who have been told they are “too different,” “too ambitious,” or “not enough.” Through grace, intelligence, resilience, and unwavering confidence, Olivia challenged the narrative that African pageant queens should be grateful just to be included. Instead, she demonstrated that African women belong at the center of global conversations, leadership, influence, and excellence. Her journey was never simply about beauty. It was about representation. It was about walking into rooms where many believed she did not belong and proving that she absolutely did. Olivia’s rise through the international pageant world, including her historic achievements as Miss World Africa and her remarkable showing on the Miss Universe stage, has become a symbol of perseverance for women across the African continent and throughout the diaspora. She stood as a reflection of what happens when preparation meets purpose and when confidence overpowers limitation.
